More animals. More chaos. More fun.

The original game comes with 16 animals and 50 question cards. Want more variety? Expansion packs add new animal sleeves and new question cards that drop straight into your existing game - just shuffle them in and go.

  • 1. Pack Mode

Two animals. Two teams. One winner.

    Best for: 8–12 players

Got a big group? This one's for you. Animal pack mode splits you into two teams - or animal packs!

Instead of drawing one animal sleeve, draw two. Ditch the Rat card completely - this mode is team vs team, and everyone knows which side they're on.

    How to play:

    • Shuffle your sleeves and draw two at random. Still don't look at the cards.
    • Divide your players into two teams as evenly as possible, but uneven numbers work fine. 9 players? 5 on one team, 4 on the other. Doesn't matter.
    • Deal the cards. 5 Pandas on one side, 4 Tigers on the other. Everyone keeps their card hidden. No one knows what animal the other team has drawn.
    • Teams take turns. On your turn, draw a question card and direct it at any player on the opposing team.
    • First team to correctly guess the other team's animal wins the round.

The same rules apply — answers must be honest, but they don't have to be helpful. A Tiger on a team of Tigers still has every reason to be crafty.

Bonus: Team Mode lets you play with up to 12 players. Your move, Christmas dinner.

  • 2. Rat attack

    More players. More Rats.

    Best for: 8-10 players

The standard game supports up to 7 players. Got more than that and don't want to split into teams? Add an extra Rat card for every player beyond 7.

    How to play:

    • 9 players = 3 Rat cards
    • 9 players = 3 Rat cards
    • 10 players = 4 Rat cards

The Rats don't know each other. They're each bluffing independently, which means the animal players have more rats to find — and the Rats have more cover. Chaos ensues. You're welcome.

Same rules apply. Any player can make an accusation on their turn. Any Rat can make a guess on their turn. The animals win when all Rats have been caught. A single Rat wins the whole round for all the Rats if they guess correctly first.

Use the same point scoring system:

  • 3. Play online

Your friends are elsewhere? No problem.

Who's the Rat? is made for the same room but that doesn't mean you can't play it from your couch while your cousin is three cities away.

We're building the Who's the Rat? app so you can play a full game with anyone, anywhere — no cards, no sleeves, no dealer fumbling with a group chat. Just hop in, get your secret card dealt straight to your screen, and start asking questions.

    Here's how it'll work:

    • One player creates a room and shares the code
    • Everyone joins on their own device — phone, tablet, laptop, whatever
    • The app deals the cards secretly, one per player
    • Question cards appear on screen each turn
    • You see your card. Nobody else does. Not even the Rat knows what they are.

Pair it with a video call so you can see each other's faces. That's where the real bluffing happens.

The app is coming soon. Sign up to our email list below and we'll let you know the moment it's ready — plus you'll get early access before it goes public.
